Word 2007: New Features

Learning Outcomes:

• Describe the types of toolbars and the Office Window Frame with 90% accuracy.
• Customize the Word Interface with Word Options Dialog Box. Apply Styles and document Themes.
• Correctly create Illustrations using SmartArt Graphics as directed by the Instructor.
• Successfully apply Digital Signatures according to the chapter exercise.
• Save a document in XML format and use the Compatibility Checker feature accurately as described in the Lesson Lab.

During this four hour workshop, the student will learn components of the new user-friendly formatting, design, and authoring tools, improvements in document creation and distribution.

Word 2007: New Features

Students will explore the components of the results-oriented interface by looking at the MS Office Button, Work with the Ribbon and its’ tabs. Discover the Quick Access Toolbar and the Office Window Frame. Work with Contextual Tabs and the Mini Toolbar. Use the Word Galleries. Customize the Word Interface with Word Options Dialog Box. Apply Styles and document Themes. Add Building Blocks. Work with Illustrations using SmartArt Graphics. Build an Equation. Add Citations and a Bibliography. Compare reviewed documents. Inspect Documents. Apply Digital Signatures. Save a document in XML format and use the Compatibility Checker feature.

Class targeted to: Designed for experienced Word users who have or will be upgrading to Microsoft Office Word 2007.

Prerequisites: Experience with a previous version of Word, preferably 2003 or XP and some familiarity with the Internet. This course covers the commonly used new features for a typical user.
