Excel 2003: Introduction

Learning Outcomes:

  • Given the information provided, successfully create a basic worksheet based on the concepts learned.

  • Use the three-dimensional aspect of the Excel workbook environment to accurately create formulas that refer to cells on multiple worksheets as assigned in the exercise.

  • With data provided, evaluate the layout of a spreadsheet and successfully select the appropriate tool to change the format as needed.

  • Accurately describe the multiple methods for manipulating multiple worksheets in a workbook as specified in the class exercise.


In this one-day class students will create, edit, format and print basic worksheets and charts in Excel. This course prepares the student for certification as a Microsoft Office Specialist in Excel.

Excel 2003: Introduction

Create a basic worksheet by entering text, values, and formulas. Create formulas using Excel's built-in functions. Move and copy data by using shortcut menus, drag-and-drop editing, and toolbar buttons. Change the appearance of worksheet data by using a variety of formatting techniques. Use the three-dimensional aspect of the Excel workbook environment by creating formulas that refer to cells on multiple worksheets. Use a variety of techniques to manipulate multiple worksheets in a workbook. Format worksheet Tabs. Set a print title. Create a Header and Footer. Set page margins. Print a range. Hide and unhide worksheets. Freeze and unfreeze rows and columns.

Class targeted to:

New users to Excel and/or spreadsheets and those wishing to understand proper spreadsheet building concepts, basic formula building, and formatting.

Prerequisites:
