Access: Introduction to Application Development

Learning Outcomes:

• Using information provided in class exercises, accurately create a procedure.
• Based on information contained in class exercises and discussion, create and execute a macro.
• Taking classroom discussion and practical application, adequately describe debugging tools and their functions.


During this two-day course students will learn how to develop an application and tie the objects together into a cohesive system by using macros and the code window.

Access: Introduction to Application Development

Students will create a macro; work with modules; use the Project Explorer and the Code Window. You will gain an understanding of objects and collections, properties, methods, and events. Use the Object Browser, understand the forms collection and form object. Use the With statement and Report object. Look at the DoCmd object and use the Screen object. Learn to declare variables, arrays, constants and object variables. Use Intrinsic Functions, the message boxes and input boxes. Work with Conditional Expressions, the If...then...end if structure and other structures. Use the debugging tools. Understand error events and the err object. Use the On Error statement and write an error handling routine.

Class targeted to: Students enrolled in this course should understand table, query, form, report, and macro design and function, as well as data normalization and table relationships.

Prerequisites: Access 2003: Introduction, Intermediate, and Advanced or equivalent knowledge.
