Learning Outcomes:

  • Successfully construct a crosstab query to update data values and display data in summary form.

  • The learner will effectively demonstrate how to make forms more functional by using macros as designated in the Lesson Lab.

  • Based on information provided in the Lesson Lab, accurately enhance an existing form using the items discussed in the lab.

  • Taking information from a Lesson Lab successfully add a chart to a report to add impact to the report.

This one-day class will provide the student with advanced capabilities of Access to work with improperly structured data, perform summary operations on data, create macros to automate tasks and enhance forms and reports. This course is also one of a series for those pursuing MOS certification in Access 2003.

Access 2003: Advanced

Restructure existing data into correctly designed tables and compact your database. Use a variety of techniques to summarize data. Summarize with a Crosstab Query, look at Pivot Query Results. Create and revise basic Access macros. Create macros that require data entry in certain fields and automate data entry in others. Display a Message Box with a Macro. Display a calendar on a Form. Organize information with Tab Pages. Use advanced features to enhance forms and to enhance reports and distribute a report to non-Access users. Include a chart in a Report. Create a Report Snapshot. Link Tables to external data sources. Back up, compact, and repair a database. Analyze the performance of the database.

Class targeted to:

Those with responsibilities such as working with heavily related tables; creating advanced queries, forms, and reports; writing macros to automate common tasks; and performing general database maintenance.

Prerequisites:
