Linux Workstation Management (Red Hat 7.2)

Define and identify origins, benefits, drawbacks, and uses of the Linux operating system. Create disks required for installing Red Hat Linux, and gather information about the computer and network on which you will be installing Linux. Install the Red Hat 7.2 version of Linux by using the workstation installation class. Use the Linux mail programs. Work in the X Window environment. Create and configure users and groups. Manage the file system. Manage rights to files and directories. Use Linux text editors to create and modify files; use Linux print services to print and manage the printing of files. Examine the Jobs and Process tables. Institute multitasking and process management Linux programs. Add and remove packages, archive files, write simple shell programs, and properly shut down and restart the Linux workstation.

Designed for students new to Linux or Unix needing to learn the basics.

Prerequisites:

Some experience with another operating system is preferred so that there is a basic understanding of the fundamentals such as hard disk management.
