Linux Server Management (Red Hat 7.2)
Performance-based objectives are: Install Red Hat Linux using the Custom
option, partition the system, choosing which packages to install, performing
a kickstart installation. Examine system scripts and configure cron. Compile,
modify, and upgrade the kernel. Install and Configure NFS. Integrate Linux
systems with other operating system platforms. Use X for remote login
and remote clients. Learn what is TCP/IP, ports, and configure and examine
network interfaces and services. Examine the Pluggable Authentication
Modules (PAM) Subsystem; NIS; Firewalls. Use ipchains to implement basic
firewall policies. Implement POP/IMAP Email Services. Install and configure
Apache Web Server. Discuss DHCP and configure dhcpd and Linux DHCP clients.
Install and configure an FTP Server. Explore Squid, inndNNTP and Time
Services. Understand a practical troubleshooting model. Troubleshoot equipment
problems and server and workstation problems.
